History
Plater Group's Glossop site has had a long and varied history.
The buildings were originally constructed in 1902, by the Urban Electricity Supply Company, to provide power for the new Glossop Tramways. The first tram ran in August 1903 and the last on 24th December 1927.

The plot has been developed over the last 90 years, however some of the original rails can be seen around the site. The engine sheds pictured are still standing and now form part of Plater Production' spray drying manufacturing facility.

Community
Over the years, Plater Group has promoted and sponsored many initiatives in support of local communities and charitable organisations, in Glossop and Staffordshire.

Local sporting clubs’ benefit from annual financial support, together with charities providing support to people living in neighbouring communities. The Plater Group team have taken part in several challenges raising funds for worthwhile charities.

Plater Group Sponsors 800 Mile Cycle Ride in Aid of MIND

Plater’s accountant, Jade Miller, sadly lost her 25 year old brother, Joe, in June 2023. Jade’s dad, Mike and 3 friends are attempting to cycle ride from Caen, Northern France to Nice in Southern France on June 5th 2024, the 1st anniversary of Joe’s death.

Joe suffered with his mental health in the last few years and Mike hopes to raise awareness and funds for MIND. Plater Group is providing funding and cycle wear for this worthwhile journey.

The group have produced a video, which briefly contains the following message:

MISSION FRANCE: Riding across the picturesque landscapes of France in June. Our mission? To raise crucial awareness for mental health and funds for the renowned MIND mental health charity. This heartfelt endeavour is dedicated to the memory of Joe Miller, who sadly left us in June 2023.
