Plater Chemicals, now Distribution, was founded in 1980 by Bruce Hendon. By developing relationships with chemical manufacturers across Europe, China, India, South America, Russia & the Far East allowed the company to expand and import industrial chemicals directly to customers in the UK and Ireland via warehouses at Ellesmere Port, Glossop, Ipswich and Goole. 

Plater Production, now Manufacturing, joined the group in 2009 which added toll spray drying, liquid and powder blending for customers across Europe as well as the manufacture of de-icers, acetates, formates, propionates, lactates and chrome chemicals. Its eight-acre site is located in Glossop, north Derbyshire. Plater Production, formerly Lancashire Chemicals was established in Glossop (by Dr.W. Hene and Dr. R. Hecksher) in 1937 for the production of a range speciality Chromium Chemicals. The business remained in the ownership of the Hene family for 70 years. 

Daltrade Chemicals, now Distribution Northernhas distributed industrial chemicals from Polish manufacturers for over 30 years. It joined Plater Group in April 2010 and continues to represent the interests of Polish Chemical manufacturers Ciech who produce Soda Ash, Sodium Bicarbonate, Calcium Chloride, Aluminium Sulphate and Sulphur, Rokita who produce Monochlorobezene, Dichlorobebezene and Caustic Soda Flake, Zachem who produce Epichlorohydrin and Allyl Chloride and Centrum Metal who produce Sodium Molybdate & Metal Salts. The majority of cargos are regularly shipped by our close colleagues at Fast Shipping in Szczecin. In addition, through the Plater Chemicals Group we have strong ties with producers throughout the globe including EEC, China, India, Turkey, South America, Russia & Far East.

Joining Plater Group in 2014, Plater High Purity, now Pharmaceutical, supplies, packs and blends Acids, Alkalis, Performance Etches, Cleaners and Developers. These products are packed into 500ml bottles through to 1000 litre IBCs, in a clean room environment to BP, NF, AR, Electronic, VLSI & ULSI standards. 

Plater Bio, now Horticultural, was conceived in 2016 and allows Plater Group to offer next generation biostimulants and micronutrients for agriculture and horticulture industries across Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East and Asia.
